9. Body on Body

Jewel

When I first began to reach out to artists, the first three that I reached out to were Jamey Johnson, Brad Paisley, and Jewel.

John Carter Cash

I asked Jewel if she’d be interested in looking at one of my father’s poems or perhaps two, and she was excited to do so. I had worked with Jewel before. The first time, back in 1990s, she actually opened a show for my father in Europe, in England, at the Royal Albert Hall, early in her career. So that young girl matured in heart and age, no less beauty, all around, took on the words to my father’s love song, Body on Body, connected with his writing with her own artistic style and came up with a song that, to me, represents her as an artist as much as anything she’s ever recorded. I love Body on Body and I believe it’s something my father would’ve loved also.
